  3. Introduction to Boherlahan Dualla – Overview: Boherlahan – Dualla is a rural community located in Co. Tipperary, in close proximity to the local historical town of Cashel. The community consists of the following: Two Villages: Boherlahan and Dualla, each located at opposite ends of the community. Community Area: 20,225 acres, comprised of 62 individual townlands. Population: circa 1,500 people (as per 2016 national census, a marginal increase from 2011) Schools: Three primary level National Schools educating circa 300 pupils; located in Boherlahan village, Dualla village and Ballytarsna townland. Boherlahan – Dualla is located in the heart of Co. Tipperary in the south of Ireland. It is 6km from the town of Cashel (population of 4,000 people) and 15km from the town of Thurles(population of 8,000). The M8 Dublin-Cork motorway passes through the centre of the community and enables access to local and more distant urban centres. A route from Ireland’s Ancient East passes through the community due to its immediate vicinity to the Rock of Cashel and Holycross Abbey.

  4. Introduction to Boherlahan Dualla – Overview: The villages of Boherlahan and Dualla have expanded in the last fifteen years, with the development of six new housing estates. This has enabled the community to grow and continue its history as a feeder community to the local urban employment centres. Although the community of Boherlahan – Dualla is a thriving rural community, there are some social issues which are a legacy of post Celtic Tiger Ireland, including unfinished housing estates. Cashel town (6km from the villages of both Boherlahan and Dualla) attracts 380,000 tourists annually to the Rock of Cashel. This location is one of the top ten tourist attractions in Ireland and is located on the Ireland’s Ancient East Trail. This world famous tourist attraction, coupled with other local tourist sites such as Holycross Abbey, Hore Abbey and Brú Ború Heritage Centre have provided significant economic benefits to Boherlahan Dualla.

In more recent times the community has managed the following capital projects; • The Boherlahan – Dualla GAA Club is currently mid-way through the execution of a €1.0M development for the local GAA facility & wider community – further details to follow. • The Dualla Community Association has, between 2003 and 2012, developed the Dualla Community Field at a total cost of €250,000. This was funded via Sports Capital Funding, Local Authority and local community fundraising. The Association also re-roofed the Dualla Community Centre in 2014 at a cost of €40,000. • The Boherlahan Parish Council in 2005 built a new village storage building for use by the Community Centre and National School at a total cost of €30,000. This was funded via local subscriptions and grants from State bodies. • In the 1980s, the Ardmayle Heritage Society, undertook a project for the refurbishment of the old St John the Baptist Church in Ardmayle. This is a medieval church building which has now been renovated into a Community Heritage Centre for cultural and heritage events.
