  2. cell metaphor Motorcycle Animal cell

  3. Cell Membrane It surrounds a cell, holding the parts of the cell together. It allows needed materials, such as sugar, water, and oxygen, to enter the cell.

  4. Exhaust pipe It pushes out smoke like the cell membrane pushes out waste and viruses. This long pipe holds together the motor cycle as the cell membrane holds together the inside of the cell.

  5. Nucleus It is the part of the cell that contains chromosomes. It is made of specific items that include DNA . Chromosomes carry instructions for the cell to do its job.

  6. Handle bars The clinch ring of the motorcycle handle bars holds the steel balls that start the engine of the motorcycle. Like the nucleus chromosomes hold the instructions of what the cell must do. The handle bars tell the motorcycle when to start the motorcycle. Like the nucleus tells the cell what to do.

  7. Cytoplasm All of the material of the cell between the cell membrane and the nucleus.

  8. Metal The metal on a motorcycle runs between everything on a motorcycle. Just like the cytoplasm in a cell does.

  9. Vacoules • They can sometimes act as stomachs , storing and breaking down material.

  10. Gas chamber • They both act as stomachs storing power. That supply the cell/ motorcycle. Then they both use that power to give the cell/ motorcycle its energy.

  11. Mitochondria It supplies energy for the cell. It is the cell power plant.

  12. Engine It powers the motorcycle to run just like the mitochondria powers the cell.
