  1. Microsoft Campus Agreement April 5, 2010 meeting

  2. Agenda • Microsoft Campus Agreement Renewal • Current Solution – An Overview • IUC RFP discussion • Reseller comments and issues • ECAL Uplift • Comments and thoughts

  3. Current Solution • Campus Agreement Desktop (fac/staff) • Microsoft Office (Mac/Win) • Microsoft OS Upgrades • Core Client Access License • Work-At-Home • CoreCAL (students) • Some ECAL (fac/staff)

  4. Current Payment Structure • Campus Agreement • Fac/Staff are automatically charged back to departments @ $38.38/FTE • Students are automatically charged back to departments @ $1.62/FTE • Select • Units contact SHI on their own to purchase software on Select • ECAL • Some departments uplift on their own, some are uplifted by Site Licensing and required to pay back

  5. IUC RFP Discussion • Discussion began in late 2009 • Two options initially were offered: • Extend the current agreement 1 year • Microsoft indicated new contracts would come out • More time to examine the renewal process and get greater input • Renew and enter a new agreement • A 10% ERP increase was expected to accompany renewal

  6. Issues with Extension/Renewal • Extension: • It is more expensive due to an ECAL cost increase from SHI • No new contracts appear forthcoming • Select agreements need to be signed anyway • Reseller issues have plagued us • Renewal: • Pricing still in negotiation • RFP released in March by BGSU prior to input from all schools

  7. Microsoft Campus Agreement • IUC has received responses to a reseller RFP for all Higher Education in Ohio • Four responses, including our current vendor, SHI • Responses look promising in terms of cost, but costs are still in negotiation • Microsoft CA (several levels/options) and Select are RFP’d for

  8. Microsoft Reseller: SHI • Seeking both positive and negative experiences • Seeking general issues, ways to improve • If SHI won the bid from the IUC, what contract requirements would help improve the situation?

  9. Site License Advisory Team Comments • Response time is a serious issue for quotes and PO's • Incorrect products are delivered • TechNet Administration results in lost money and inabilities to activate • SHI E-Store is an issue (navigation, location of products) • OSU's E-stores works well, though. • Downloading of software would be greatly helpful.

  10. ECAL: What is it? • Enterprise Client Access License • A Client Access License enables you to connect devices or user accounts to Microsoft Servers. • An addition to the CoreCAL we are currently licensed for • Roughly 46% of the University is currently uplifted to ECAL • MedCenter, FCOB, Grad School, Optometry, Law, CSE, Human Ecology and Education, Newark Campus
