  2. Directions • Yesterday, we discussed gossip and rumors and how they can affect and destroy a person’s life. • Today, let’s take a look at the “rumored Gatsby” and the “real Gatsby”

  3. Directions • In your notebook, create a chart that looks like this:

  4. Directions • Look through Chapters 1-4. • Find any rumors about Gatsby and place them in the “rumor” column. • Look in Chapter 4. • What truths does the “real” Gatsby say about himself? • Put those in the “real” column. • Are there any similarities between the two?

  5. Directions • Now that we’ve looked at rumors vs. reality, let’s see how others perceive Gatsby’s reality. • Work with a partner to fill in “The First Time Gatsby Tells Nick About Himself” Chart. • What is your reaction to Gatsby? Write your answer at the bottom of the chart.
