  3. Open Access Scholarly Communication and Information Center • A complex of buildings will be constructed in the business cluster Saulėtekio slėnis (Saulėtekis Valley) around the new building of the University library - Open Access Scholarly Communication and Information Center (MKIC).

  4. Some facts and figures (1) • General data. • The total space of new center building is 13 242,74 square meters, for the storage – 2637 square meters accommodating about 1,6 million documents. It is planned to accommodate about 0, 31 million publications in the open stocks. • The Center will have about 803 work places for customers and 85 work places for the staff. • The new building will consist of three blocks pieced together by common ground floor. The constructions will be of 2, 3 and 4 floors with 2 floors basement area underground: one technical floor and one book storage floor.

Some facts and figures (2) • Reading rooms: • Specialized reading rooms • General reading rooms • Mediatheca (with 8 individual and 10 open places of work)Cabins for individual work (45); • Rooms for team work (9). • Other public spaces: • The Conference Hall with 250 places with full installation of radio, with stationary multimedia and installations for simultaneous translation; • The Bookshop; • The Café.
