  1. International Justice Mission

  2. The Issue… • Sex Trafficking: • Is a growing global enterprise driven by deception, coercion and force. Traffickers transport or detain their victims for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation.

  3. Sex Trafficking… • After drug dealing, human trafficking (both sex trafficking and trafficking for forced labor) is tied with the illegal arms industry as the second largest criminal industry in the world today, and it is the fastest growing. • World wide, there are nearly two million children in the commercial sex trade. • There are an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 children, women and men trafficked across international borders annually. • Approximately 80% of human trafficking victims are women and girls, and up to 50% are minors.

  4. What Are We Doing? • As a chapter of IJM we are carrying out their mission by putting on a 10K Run/Walk/Relay (6.2 miles) to raise awareness of victims of sexual exploitation and support them once they are rescued.

  5. Why We Are Running? • To raise awareness of the issues of human trafficking and slavery • To put ourselves ‘in their shoes’ and see the parallels between running a 10K and coming out of a life of sexual exploitation and bondage. • To raise funds for Daughters of Cambodia

  6. Is a non-profit faith based organization • Sex workers come directly to the organization from the brothels by choice. • Daughters facilitates the girls' exit from the sex industry by providing a number of resources and programs that enable them to set themselves free and sustain healthy choices for their own lives.

  7. What Can You Do? Support! Pray!

  8. Support… • If you are unable to run support someone who is. • Your financial giving will help us reach our goal in supporting 30 of Daughters workers.

  9. Lets Break That Down…. • 1 person running = $20 • 1 person running + sponsorship of $50 = sponsorship of one Daughters employee for a month • 12 runners + sponsorship of $50 = sustainability for one Daughters employee for a year

  10. Goal… 30men or women will be supported for a year of work at Daughters $25,000 to Daughters

  11. Why Should You Care? • Bringing justice to the oppressed is close to the heart of God. • Micah 6:8 “ And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” • Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
