Children’s Universities in Europe • The first university to launch Children’s University was Universität Tübingen in Germany • Currently 1000 children a year are educated there
Nearly all European countries already have such universities and they are grouped in EUCU.NET(www.eucu.net)
Children’s University of Technology • The offer includes both lectures and workshops. • Students of Children’s University meet once a month. • Lectures are given by academic teachers and entrepreneurs from partner companies .
Lectures, like those at real universities, are conducted without parents’ presence. • The curriculum and form of classes are prepared for and adjusted to the age of participants. • Little students can acquire new knowledge on: physics, chemistry, construction, aviation, mechanics, ecology and foreign languages.

The next session of Children’s University took place on June 20, 2009
On 10th of October the first semester of Children’s University began • 150 seats were taken in just 7 minutes. • In subsequent two days of recrutation another 500 persons were registered on the waiting list.
The topics of the first semester 1. AVIATION – the topic realized in cooperation with the project partner, WSK „PZL–Rzeszów” S.A. - Green engine – the concept of green engine, emissions, trends and challenges – Birds and aircrafts – why do we need buzzards at airports, bird test + film – What can’t an aircraft do? – emergency aircrafts, fire fighting aircrafts, ect. Applications of aircrafts. Additional information on aircraft testing results. – How does the aircraft know where to fly? – How does the aircraft reach its destination after a whole-night flight. The concept of compass, radio, radiolocation, GPS, ect. –Gravitational force, what falls first and why? What are gravitation and black holes? Is there such thing as anti-gravitation?

We can prove it. • Food is construction material and propellant of the body. • Food is our best medicine. - What shouldn’t a child eat? - How did hamburgers, cheeseburgers, „delicious” chicken chunks, chips and crisps make Americans obese. • The most healthy food. 3. SIMPLE MACHINES, LEVERS, PULLEY BLOCKS - Classes will be organised in groups of 26 students and led by workers of The City Engineering Museum in Krakow.

The projects includes • Educating young students at 7 faculties – classes organised at Rzeszow University of Technology. • Classes outside university – 6-hour classes within Children’s University of Technology organised in schools in Podkarpackie voivodship.
