  2. Writing Goal for GLMS We, the staff of GLMS, will improve the revision skills of all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students so that all students’ mean scores increase to 2.7 on the CWCA (in 5/09) and 2.9/6 on MEAP (10/08 &10/09) while decreasing the gap between males and females by May 2009.

  3. First Objective from the Plan • By the end of the first quarter, all ELA teachers will apply the writing process with students and emphasize revision skills by incorporating the Collins revision process and the Write Source materials. • Revisions on 2 or more Type III papers each quarter. • What specific data have you gathered? Collins TYPE III – in folders First Writing Assessment • What are you doing next? Continuing on with this until the end of the year -

  4. Second Objective from the Plan • The Collins writing team will guide all staff in quality writing across the curriculum by focusing on one writing trait per month. • Monthly lesson ideas will be given to staff . • What specific data have you gathered? Common planning agenda Collins writing logs First Writing Assessment data • What are you doing next? Each month continue teaching a new trait.

  5. Third Objective from the Plan • The writing leadership team will research and share with all teaching staff writing strategies that appeal to boys in order to close the gender gap. • Research materials/prompts/lessons which can be used to motivate boys’ writing • Present findings to staff • What specific data have you gathered?
