  2. Purity of Heart • To define a pure and impure heart • To explain how purity of heart changes our perception of the world • To evaluate how purity of heart brings freedom to love Got Sin

  3. Sin makes us “see” the world in a way that is twisted & wrong. It gives us an impure heart – desires that are unloving, selfish, greedy and deceitful. A pure heart is just the opposite: loving, truthful, self-controlled and good. Original Sin (man’s rejection of God), opened up the way for sin and temptation to get a hold over us. It is hard for us to be loving, good and true. We need God’s help and Holy Spiritto purify our hearts, helping us to act in the ways of the Spirit of God, and reject sin. Why is sin a problem for us? How did Original Sin cause this problem? How can our hearts be purified again? **Why is having a pure heart is important for a good relationship?

  5. Write out the 4 key sins and how they make us see the world wrongly. *Which is the most damaging sin to others? Why? Lust • makes me want things I don’t need. Greed • makes me want things just because others have them. Envy • makes me think I’m the only one who really counts for anything. Pride • makes me see others as just bodies, there for my pleasure

FRUITS: Kind, patient, joyful, good, loving, self-controlled, peaceful, gentle, faithful. • Write the 7 gifts of the Spirit in the middle circle : these are ways God helps us get a pure heart • Wisdom • Right judgement • Knowledge • Right understanding • Respect and fear of God • Courage • Prayerful • Pick out the cards that go with having an impure heart (spirit of flesh). Write them in the outer circle. • write the “9Fruits of the spirit” – In the inside circle: this shows what a person with a pure heart is like. • Choose 2 “impure” things. What could you do to move away from them? Which gifts of the Spirit could help you? Eg to be less of a troublemaker, I would ask God for respect and fear of God because this would... • **Don’t “feed the dog” of your unspiritual desires, or he will get greedier and angrier.
