How much money did you have from your Father My inheritance needs to be seen in context. Money in not worth as much in the 21st century as it was in the 16th century. One pound then is equal to 300 pounds now. So all you do is multiply the sums I talk about by 300 X 300 My father left me £1250000 or £1.25 million pounds. This equates to £375 million It only took me 9 years to spend it though, what with banquets, displays of chivalry, houses, castles, and my annual progress. I had to raise money from the city of London, taxes and lands confiscated from traitors and the monasteries. My part of the cost for “The Field of the Cloth of Gold” in Val d’Or (The Golden Vale) with Francis 1 cost me millions. It was called the 8th wonder of the world though. All this food adds up to £8,839 (£2,651,700) Wine and Beer cost £7,409 (£2,222,700) Pots and pans £377 (£113,100) Quite a picnic eh!
