Reproduction: Asexually; spores produced in a club- shaped structure called a basidium.Sexually; reproductive structure forms at point where hyphae join. Method of Obtaining Food: consumer; heterotroph-saprophyte-absorbs dead decaying tissues of other organisms using hyphae and digestive enzymes. Special Notes/Adaptations: Mycologists have raised concerns that this mushroom contains tracequantities of a chemical called agartine known to have carcinogenic properties. Fungi do not move.
