  1. VOLLEYBALL! • I am going to tell you about volleyball! • Isn’t that great? • Please listen and make as many comments about VOLLEYBALL as you’d like! • Thank you.

  2. First thing’s first. • The Serve! • There are many types of serves. • Top spin • Floater • Side Spin • Jump (and its variations) • Covenant uses the Float serve… • It’s hard to pass!! • Why?

  3. Different serves

  4. The Floater!

  5. “Offense wins games, DEFENSE wins championships!” • The pass! • Stay low to the ground. • Why? Because that is where the other team is aiming! • Watch the ball into your arms. • Push FORWARD with your BODY, don’t swing with your arms. • Less motion= more control

  6. SETTING! • Are there any physics to be applied to setting? • Push with legs to get more power (to make the ball go farther) • Other than that, I really don’t know?

  7. Now everybody’s favorite… THE SPIKE (or now, HIT)

  8. Height gained from Approach Arms Transfer of energy upward Power from Body Opposite arm

  9. Then there’s blocking.

  10. Outside Forces? What kinds of things affect the volleyball?

  11. I hope I remembered everything. Thank you for listening! FYI: Misty May and Kerry Walsh placed first in Women's Beach Volleyball this Olympics Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs were third The American men placed fourth indoors and the women tied for fifth
