  2. STANDARDIZATION PRACTICES AT PAU-SFL • Beforethewrittenexam: • %6O-%75 of ourexamsincludestandardizedmultiple-choicequestions. The %40-%25 of themarenote-takingand/orwritingsections. • All staff is involved in exam preparationandalltheexamsincludelistening, corelanguage, reading, writing • The institution is divided into four main groups – eachgroup gatherstheexamquestionsthroughgroupdiscussionsinto a pool. Thequestionpool is revisedregularly at thebeginning of eachtermbythegroups. • BoththeTeacherTraining Office Membersandtheexperiencedlecturerswholeadeachgrouptakepart in the marker training.

Afterthewrittenexam: • Theevaluationprocess is dividedintotwoparts: • Theteachers’ owngradingforthequestionswithvariableanswersandwritingpart -Writing is evaluated in thesameexamtogetherwiththeotherthree parts. (Listening, Reading, Grammar) - Writingparts in theexamsareevaluatedthroughtherubrics. • Theevaluation of theopticalanswersheetsbyTesting Office - Theobtained data is checkedandcombinedbyTesting Office Membersandtheresultsareachieved.

  4. SpeakingExams: • Speakingexamsaremainlybased on thespeakingtopics in thestudents’ coursebooks. • Boththestudentsandmarkersaregiventhespeakingexamtopicsand questions in advance. • Inthespeakingexam, twomarkers, one of whom is familiarwithstudents, examineeachstudent. • Themarkersgive an average of time depending on thelevel of students. (A/B/C Levels) • Themarkersaregiventwodifferentsheets of commentformsanddecide on thestudent’sgradehavingdiscussion on theircomments.
