  1. More Noise Philip Rodrigues Oxford MINOS meeting 16/01/07

  2. Since last time… • New singles data taken with 2/36 in place • Improved simulation • Fought DetSim

  3. Pre-2/36 Arbitrary Scale

  4. Post-2/36 Arbitrary Scale

  5. Pre-2/36

  6. Post-2/36

  7. Improved simulation • Two (fairly) easy and obvious improvements: • Per channel noise rates • Match pe spectrum from data • Not done yet: • Per channel pe distributions

  8. Per channel rate • Per channel rate determined from data • For each realization, pick the number of hits from a Poisson with mean=rate*dt • Gives a good absolute rate “for free”:

  9. PE Spectrum Data MC

  10. PE Spectrum • Old method: place individual “DigiPEs” randomly in time on random pixel spots • New: Sometimes place multiple PEs on the same spot at the same time. • Pick the number of PEs from a Poisson. • Also add some PEs with number picked from an exponential

  11. New PE Spectrum • Hard to match exactly: we have to put in an integral number of PEs • Tradeoff between peak and 2-3 pe region • Could perhaps do better with per-channel mean pe settings Data MC

  12. 2/36 Implementation • Easy to describe, not so easy to code • Original implementation had a bug whereby all but the last few hits were read out • Submitted a “fix,” but hard to test • Rewrite?
