  1. 2/16 Adv. Algebra Bell Ringer Simplify to the best of your ability: What are the values of a, b, and c? Homework: Finish Quadratic Formula Day 2 Practice

  2. 2/16 Adv. Alg News and Notes • Perfection: 2nd • Quizzes  Jasmin H, Durante, Zuleima. Janet, Taunjear,, Abi, Darneisha, Arielle, Jasmine • ACT Workshop today at 2:45 in Room 218!

  3. Example 1: HW #3C 5x2 + 12x + 7 = 0 How can we get an idea of what the answer are? How do we get precise answer? Quad. Formula! How many solutions are there appear to be? 2, because we have 2 x-intercepts How do we determine this mathematically? Discriminant: b2 – 4ac

  4. What are a, b, and c? 5x2 + 12x + 7 = 0 A = 5 B = 12 C = 7

  5. How many solutions to 5x2 + 12x + 7? If b2 – 4ac < 0, then no solutions. If b2 – 4ac = 0, then 1 solution. If b2 – 4ac > 0, then 2 solutions 2 SOLUTIONS!

  6. So what are the solutions?

  7. Now… PRACTICE!
