  4. Where will I interact with Supporters? • Soar/WOW Check In • Soar Sessions • Open House • On the phone • Move-in • Week of Welcome • Anytime around campus • Anywhere around SLO

  5. Suggestions • Utilize other Supporters • Use personal experience • Reference/highlight campus & community resources • Always stay formal when talking to a Supporter • Don’t guess • Refrain from saying what is “right”

  7. Reacting to POLY-tically Incorrect Speech • Set the example • Be indirect • Avoid becoming frustrated • Do not reprimand

  8. Types of Questions OBJECTIVE SUBJECTIVE Based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions. Not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.

  9. C.A.R.E. • Consider • Gauge what the Supporter is asking • Analyze • Break the question down into smaller parts • Identify the underlying question

  10. C.A.R.E. • Reflect • Reflect on your own personal experiences • Explain • Answer their underlying question • Share an appropriate but honest response
