  1. AWANAApproved Workmen Are Not Ashamed A children’s ministry with a mission of teaching children the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve him.

  3. Format • AWANA Clubs meet once per week • Club time is usually 1 ½ - 2 hours long • Opening Ceremony, Handbook Time, Games, Council Time and Snacks • Uniforms and handbooks • Bible verse memorization and application is stressed

  4. History and Outreach • Created 60 years ago at a Chicago Church • Started as a boys club • Has grown to an International Ministry • 12,000+ churches in all 50 states • 6000+ churches in 109 other countries • Headquartered at the Rorheim Institute in Chicago

  5. Trends in Christianity • Over half of all church-going teens abandon their faith after high school.• As few as one in 10 possesses a biblical view of God and the world.• Bible knowledge among college students has plummeted to all-time lows.• The majority of children from Christian homes leave the church by age 19. **Based on 2005 study performed by Baylor University

  6. AWANA Alumni Study • 92.7% of AWANA alumni continue to attend church regularly • 93.7% wholeheartedly believe in God • 98.6% believe Jesus is the son of God • 94% believe the Bible is God’s word • 74% are 5 times more likely to serve in church than Americans polled by Baylor University • 70% share their faith with friends at least once a month **www.awana.org/alumnistudy

  7. Why it Works • AWANA makes an impact • Club nights are FUN • Motivational and Inspirational • Curriculum weaves the following 5 components into curriculum • Respect, Wisdom, Grace, Destiny, Perspective

  8. Why I believe in the Ministry • I have had the privilege to serve as Game Director for our AWANA ministry for 4 years, and I have seen this ministry change the life of children, teens, and adults. The kids are memorizing scripture, and writing it on their hearts, then use it to guide their path and keep them from sin. The kids keep coming back, and they bring their friends. That’s proof of the effectiveness.

  9. Club Verse • Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
