  3. Project Goals • To build an artificial turf field with lights at the existing sports area at KVHS • To have a facility that will far exceed existing facilities and benefit the wellness of young people in our community • To have the field completed by September 1st,2007

  7. Rationale • Current ongoing maintenance and repair costs on the existing fields are like putting funds into a black hole. For example, in two years $33,000.00 was spent bringing the fields up to playing condition, and in the last five years $55,000.00 has been spent on maintenance and upkeep of the field.

Points of Consideration • Field Usage • At KVHS there are 4 soccer teams, field hockey team, football team, 2 rugby teams and track and field • Community • Increase the chances for Wellness activities in this community • Benefit to the Town • Reduction in the wear and tear of the Town’s fields.

Points of Consideration Cont’d. • Fewer Cancellations due to weather events • KVHS has a strong athletics program and the school and the community are missing out on the chance to host provincial events For Example... In the last 4 years, KVHS has consistently been in the Provincials in Field Hockey, Football, Rugby and Soccer

  10. Objective tonight: • To cost share equally with three partners: municipal, provincial, and federal governments • We estimate that the total cost of the project will be 2.7 million dollars

  11. Conclusion • Asking the town to include in the next budget a minimum of $135,000.00 or 5% of the cost in the next budget. • Ideally we would like the town to partner with us to raise a full third of the cost of the project.

  12. Conclusion cont’d. • Also we would like to request the municipality to work with us as we approach other levels of government. • Accordingly, your support and expertise is very important to us. • Thank-You!
