  1. TIRED OF SWIPING. HERE IS A NEW NON-SWIPING ONLINE SITE FOR DATING FOR INDIANS “Hey Kareena, what are the best online sites for dating to look for in a life partner. Are they any new ones, I am not looking for the likes of bumble or hinge or even trulymadly. Do you know of anything else?” Malaika sent this as a whatsapp message to her friend Kareena. She further wrote –“This is for my cousin who is 32 years old who is keen to find a partner. She will be connecting with some local matchmakers but will also like to take the search in her own hands, so of you know of anything trusted let me know.” Kareena responded saying, “sure I will, I will ask around. BTW I told you the other day that I too am also ready to meet someone, so if I get to know about a relevant new online dating service will let you know for your cousin.” She further responded, Didi told me just yesterday that they are all flying to Delhi today and will be with me for a minimum month. “ And Kareena got back to doing what she was, she was cooking for her sister and her family and arranging for another broadband connection for the children to be able to continue their classes. Kareena was excited as it was over 14 months she had not met her sister, her brother-in-law and their two little children, one was 4 and the other 6. Kareena lived in Delhi and her sister and her family lived in Mumbai. Kareena had moved to Bangalore where their parents lived and had returned to Delhi a month back with the hope to return to a routine that she had before the pandemic. Malaika was Kareena’s childhood friend who was living and working in Bangalore. They were both 28 years old. Malaika was living-in with her partner who she had met on a popular online dating app, 4 years back. However Malaika was sure that if she ever again needed to look for a life-partner she would not go on these swipe apps and thus she had reached out to Kareena if she knew of any new online dating apps, or dating platforms where individuals go when they consider being in a serious relationship, because she knew Kareena was also scouting for one as both had a discussion on online dating in India. Kareena, had tried her hand in online dating 5 months back but she could not handle the mindless swiping. She also was getting wary and her trust levels were not high on the profiles that she saw because she had met someone and had started chatting with someone to realise he had not mentioned his correct age and he was actually 7 years older than his mentioned age, she did not enjoy the catfishing aspect on these platforms. She also found information on profiles that were shared were very shallow and wanted to have more information / data on the prospect match before even sent a chat request or swiped right. This was becoming a chore for her and she was not enjoying this experience. It had become tiring, just as finding a needle in the haystack. It was Malaika who had asked Kareena to delete the dating apps before Kareena gets completely put off of being in a relationship. She told Kareena she will help in introducing her to prospect matches which unfortunately she could not. Malaika had also not met Kareena for

  2. over a year as they lived in different cities and had planned to travel as she was also fond of Kareena’s sister’s family. Kareena was excited about having the sister, her family and Malaika coming over – and given that they were all there for minimum 3 weeks she decided they could all plan to go the hills for 10 days if not more. She brought up her idea at Sunder Nursery where they had decided to visit on Sunday to eat at the organic market. Her idea was accepted immediately and when they reached home Kareena and Malaika started looking for options – should they go towards Mukteshwar, Almora , Ranikhet or go to Kasuali, or Himachal or even look at Mussoorie. As they were doing so Kareena had a office call which she needed to attend where she learnt one of her peers is in a lovely resort in outskirts of Almora, the resort was lesser known so it was not crowded. She got more details, showed it to the family and they booked themselves there for 12 days. Post settling down they decided to all go for a walk in the hills. They had reached at 2 pm and were told that dinner is served daily from 7pm and every evening the resort keeps an interactive engaging activity which allows them to meet other guests and befriend them. The resort had 2 other couples, one family was slightly older, the couple was in their late 40s, they were here for 3 months with their dog, they had come from Delhi. Their children lived overseas. The other couple was in their early 30s. They were married 8 months back, they had met on andwemet an online dating site which prides itself on slow and conscious dating. They had flown in from Bangalore, and were exploring living and working from the hills till the offices reopen. Kareena and Malaika had both the age and their home city in common with the younger couple. They also learned about andwemet which Kareena said she would like to give it a try and signed up and Malaika also sent the details to her cousin. The 12 days break on the hills came to an end, they knew they had made special memories which they were talking about as they were driving to Delhi and were now planning things to do in Delhi with the kids before all fly back to their respective cities, of course all this was being planned keeping social distancing in mind.
