  2. Overview The scriptwriting lesson plan will explore the basic elements of scriptwriting and the student will apply these elements to their own stories. The student will utilize this knowledge of script analysis and development to the process of independent scriptwriting.

  3. Student Objectives The student will be able to define the 5 key elements to writing a script The student will conduct an analysis of the beginning, middle and end contents to a story The student will construct a short story using the 5 key elements and the structure of a story.

  4. Essential Questions to a Story Who- Characters What- Plot (events/sequence of actions) When- Year, season, day, etc. Where- Setting Why- Reason the story takes place

  5. Structure of A Script Beginning- Introduces characters, setting, and the story situation Middle- highlights the conflicts, develops characters, and sets up the resolution to the story End- Resolution of the story which resolves the conflict or creates a “to be continued” scenario to explored

  6. Read the following Story and Answer the questions below Goldilocks and the Three Bears Click Here! 1)Answer the 5 elements that make up a script questions according to the reading of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Who, What, When, Where, Why…..

  7. Guided Practice Assignments Given Circumstances: (choose one of the following options to write a quick short story using the 5 key questions and the structure types of a story as previously mentioned in prior slides) Child indulges in his/her favorite ice cream cone, which drops to the floor Parents return from work to find the house sparkling clean Parents find the mess.

  8. More Guided Practice(use the following given character examples to help develop a short story based on character descriptions. Use the 5 key questions and the structure of a script.) Crying Young Girl

  9. Assignments • Start Writing a Short Story based on the theme of: Overcoming Obstacles • First Draft Due: Next Class • If you did not finish Goldilocks and the Three Bears Assignment in class then finish!
