  1. Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day May 5, 2012 In collaboration with the Mid-Rio Grande Border Area Health Center, the Office of US Congressman Henry Cuellar, the Texas Girls Collaborative Project, and ISLA, Informal Science Learning Associates of Laredo

  2. Eleven women professional engineers and architects joined 50 girls and their parents for an afternoon of activities and conversation about the engineering field.

  3. Engineers Mollie and Monica with Schlumberger talk to the girls while leading Marshmallow Structures.

  4. Engineer Thelma Porras-Nance leads the challenge to engineer a bouncy ball. Halliburton engineer Lynelle Martinez assists in the construction of a kinetic sculpture. Testing the axle racer in the hallway of the UTHSCSA - Laredo campus.

  5. Engineer Alex Gholmieh leads the girls in developing a parachute design.

  6. From tweaking the blades on the fan of a wind-powered car to chute design on Parachutes to testing different shapes in Marshmallow structures, the girls explored and engaged in the engineering design process.
