  1. Audible Alert for Return Item on Hold rep_ver 015319 in V20 Yoel Kortick Aleph Support Manager

  2. Introduction • A new variable, OnHoldReturn= has been added to the PC file: circ.ini. • It enables the playing of a specific audible alert when an item on hold is returned in the circulation module.

  3. Introduction • Here is the new line in circ.ini [Error Action] section

  4. Setup • The options for every sound are: • SoundName=N – No sound. • SoundName=Y,S, System sound name - This setting uses a system sound for the sound name. The list of available system sounds is listed below. • SoundName=Y,F, Sound file name - This setting uses a sound file for the sound name. The sound file should be placed in the Alephcom\Sound directory.

  5. Setup Example • For example: OnHoldReturn=N OnHoldReturn=Y,S,Beep OnHoldReturn=Y,F,RINGOUT.WAV • Note: The option to play sound has already existed in other parts of the system. It is new for “OnHoldReturn”. • See the Circulation Systems Librarian Guide “Audio Warnings” section for more information.

  6. Configuration • We have a sound file called “doorbell2.wav” • We want it to play when an item is returned which has a hold request • We place it in directory …\AL500\Alephcom\Sound

  7. Configuration • Then we “call” this sound file from …\AL500\Circ\Tab\circ.ini Make a sound Use a file from the sound directory File name

  8. Example • Barcode 85900-10 is currently on loan and has a hold request

  9. Example • When it is returned the file …\AL500\Alephcom\Sound\doorbell2.wav plays.
