  2. Agenda • What is a compare contrast essay? • Why take two different personality tests? • How did you cite your information and did you develop a reference page? • Did you use APA or MLA? Why?

Rationale for Interest Essay • The skill of writing a comparison/contrast essay is required of all students graduating from high school • The essay helps the student look closer at the results they received from the personality profile • Understanding how one’s personality affects careers and academic choices is important. • Taking the time to get to know yourself helps guide your day to day choices.

Directions for Compare and Contrast Interest Essay • Open your Personality Profile in your Google drive • You will be analyzing your interest using the Human metrics and Keirsey tests. • Write an essay using the report(s). You will be Comparing and contrasting the report(s) with your perception of yourself. Analyze the jobs that matched with your personality. • Essay Criteria:  1 page, single-spaced • The essay will include: • (1) Your code and your scores. • (2) What were two traits that were similar? Give specific examples to back it up. • (3) What were two traits that were different? Give specific examples to back it up. • (4) What jobs would you consider pursuing as a career? Please explain. • (5) What job choices do you disagree with? Please explain.

Directions Cont. • This is a seven paragraph essay with an introduction, answer to each question in a paragraph, and a conclusion • You are comparing the two results from the personality tests so make sure your are using the information in the results- use quotation marks for anything you take directly from the report • You are to have a title page and a reference page-look for template on the desktop or in Drop box. • Make sure you use grammar and spell check. You will need to click on tools in your Google drive and click every box. Make sure you make the corrections underlined in red. • Share your essay when you are finished with three classmates to ensure an excellent product and then share it to the class email and upload into your Drop box.

  6. Formative Assessment Directions: Open a Google Doc, label it last name, Interest Essay Assessment, put your name and date on top of the document. Copy and paste the four questions below and answer in complete sentences. Use words, phrases, and clauses to link the major sections of the text, create cohesion, and clarify the relationships between claim(s) and reasons, between reasons and evidence, and between claim(s) and counterclaims. • d. Establish and maintain a formal style and objective tone while attending to the norms and conventions of the discipline in which they are writing. • e. Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the argument presented.
