  1. Things you Should Consider Before a Plant Shutdown

  2. Introduction The most important thing for a successful plant shutdown is safe workforce. A documented procedure, communication, and well-trained team are the key. We realize that Plant Shutdown can be dangerous as we are often doing non-routine tasks and even tasks for the first time. Contractors may be working on site that have limited or no site knowledge. Some hazards and their risks are just a portion of the shutdown process, such as exposure to defective equipment, electrical hazards, exposure to toxic chemicals.

  3. Give Yourself Enough Time to Plan Allow for at least four months prior to the scheduled shutdown and review the shutdown plan. Having a shutdown or turnaround checklist helps an organization prepare and ensures that all important items are considered. Safety needs to be a component of the checklist, not only in its own section, but integrated into other components, such as identification of equipment and tools. From the clear list of the projects to be accomplished, each should be evaluated. If you have less manpower, you can hire manpower through Shutdown Manpower Supply services. Run your hazard identification, risk assessment and control program — and put the tasks through the paces of the program to ensure all are identified and the right controls are in place. This gives a great opportunity to review program components that are already in place, such as a permit system for confined space, and you might also expand on best solutions and help frame training needs.

  4. Review Equipment Needs and Review Orientation Bringing additional equipment to complete the tasks often poses an increased risk. We need to make sure they are only operated by trained, qualified operators and with heavy mobile equipment those spotters and other controls are in place. If you have any problem with equipments, you can contact OEM Support Services. Ensure the orientation program includes specific inclusions for your plant and for the projects. This is essential for your contractors, but also considers special project orientation or meetings that also include your people working the shutdown, as it is not business as usual. Re-educating your workforce about safety, including the emergency response procedures need to be components of the shutdown training.

  5. Safety Tips Every Plant Should Follow Safety Equipment All workers working in Electrical and Instrumentation Services plant or other should wear the required safety gear while on the premises. The equipment must also be kept clean and maintained. Wearing loose clothing or jewellery while on the job should be avoided. In addition, people with long hair must keep it tied back when working with moving machinery.

  6. Safety Tips Every Plant Should Follow Operating Heavy Machinery Machinery should be in full working condition and have all the manufacturer’s safety guards installed. Anytime a malfunction or defect is noticed, go straight to the maintenance department and review the instruction manual. Hazardous manual handling continues to be an underrated risk in many industries. If you’re not trained properly in the technical aspects of operating certain machinery, don’t use it. After your work is done, always remember to shut down the machine. If you are looking for Technical Manpower Services or for any other plant shutdown services, you should visit ANI Integrated.
