  4. Group 1 The Producers Producers are the beginning of a simple food chain. Producers are plants and vegetables. This is because they produce their own food! They do this by using light energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to produce food.The process is called photosynthesis.

  5. Group 2 • Consumers Animals are called consumers. This is because they cannot make their own food, so they need to consume (eat) plants and/or animals. 3-omnivores /om-nuh-vawr) Secondary consumer Tertiary consumer 1- Herbivores /hur-buh-vawr/ (primary consumer) 2- Carnivores /kahr-nuh-vawr/ Secondary consumer

  6. 1- Herbivores (primary consumer) Animals that eat ONLY PLANTS.

  7. 2- Carnivores Secondary consumer Animals that eat OTHER ANIMALS.

  8. 3-omnivores Animals and people who eat BOTH animals and plants.

  9. The Decomposers (bacteria and fungi) which feed on decaying matter.
