  2. Wearing eyeglasses is a simple, quick, and easy way to correct vision problems. Although, with glasses, there comes an opportunity to select from a variety of lenses, frame designs, and even lens protective coatings. 02

  3. TYPES OF EYEGLASSES There are two types of eyeglass lens designs: single vision used to correct distance, and multifocal, designed to correct both distance and near vision. 03

  4. BIFOCALS 04 Bifocals are the most common type of multifocal, and the lens is split into two sections. They have a correction for reading on the bottom half of the lens and another for seeing at a distance on the top. If you are experiencing presbyopia, an age-related vision change, you may be prescribed bifocals. Bifocals Eyeglasses

  5. TRIFOCALS: Trifocals correct three different vision problems, including distance vision, intermediate vision, and near vision. PROGRESSIVE LENSES Progressive lenses function similarly to bifocals or trifocals; however, they have a smooth transition between distance and near viewing instead of visible dividing lines. Progressive lenses are more difficult to wear for many people because they cause more distortion than other types of lenses. 05

  6. Types of Lens Materials https://visionassociates.net As technology advances, so do the types of materials lenses are made from. In the past, lenses were made exclusively from glass, but today they are most commonly made of high-tech plastics. The high-tech plastic material is lighter, more flexible, and safer because it doesn’t break as easily as glass. The newer high-tech plastic material lenses include: 06

  7. POLYCARBONATE Vision Associates, Inc. Polycarbonate lenses are great for anyone who plays sports or other activities that could result in an injury to the eye. This material is safe and highly impact resistant. TRIVEX Trivex lenses meet the same safety standards of polycarbonate lenses but are less distorting. TYPES OF LENS MATERIALS HIGH INDEX High index lenses are great for the person who needs high vision correction. 07

  8. 08 Types of Lens Coatings Protective coatings for eyeglasses are necessary to help keep your eyes safe and healthy. Below are some of the most common protective lens coatings: https://visionassociates.net

  9. ANTI-REFLECTIVE Anti-reflective coatings help to diminish reflections, glare, and halos around light. Because of reduced glare and reflections, eyestrain may be reduced. UV PROTECTION This lens coating helps protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation. Some types of plastic lens inherently block UV light. For UV protection, you may also look into prescription sunglasses to ensure you are protected both inside and outside. 09

  10. TINTED LENSES 10 Sometimes, a tinted lens can help you see better. A light tint could increase contrast and potentially high signs of aging around your eyes.
