  2. History • Since the beginning of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict, Human Rights have been an issue in Israel and occupied Palestine • The conflict between the two fuels most of the violations of the Universal Declaration of Human rights created by the UN

  3. Unlawful Acts • Israeli military went into a West Bank Bedouin community to displace the residents • Demolitions • Destroyed all structures in community • No justified reason

  4. Fatal Shooting in refugee camp • Israeli military went on a raid through a Palestinian refugee camp in search of “terrorist” • Military was causing conflict and being violent which resulted in some refugees throwing rocks at Israeli military • Israeli military began to shoot refugees, both hostile and non hostile

  5. Some Articles of UDHR violated • Articles • 1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. • 2. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

  6. (Continued) • 3. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. • 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. • 7. All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

  7. Possible Solution(s) • Punishment for unlawful crimes • Lesser role of military in government • Follow the UDHR strictly • Compromise to have equal amounts of land
