  2. Details of mid day meal kitchen cum stores in M.P • Major component of Mid Day Meal is to construct kitchen-cum-store in school to ensure safety and security of food grains as well as to ensure that food is cooked in a hygienic way. • Govt of M.P. is thankful to Govt of India to provide funds Rs 598.33 crores for construction of 98462 no. of kitchen sheds in 2006 – 2013. • Out of which, Govt. of M.P. has constructed 82743 kitchen cum stores in M.P., 10058 are under progress and 4298 have not yet started.

  3. Plinth area adopted for the construction of kitchen sheds: • In 2007, 26.9/17.6 sqm plinth area for construction of kitchen sheds was adopted. • Since 10 to 20% cost of construction has been increasing every year, that is why however in some places 17.6sqm plinth area has been adopted for construction of kitchen sheds. • In 2011, because of limited resources it was impossible to construct kitchen sheds at sanctioned cost, so in some big villages common kitchen sheds were proposed.

  4. Kitchen-cum-stores proposed in 2013 PAB meeting • Looking after all rural, regional problems, Govt. of M.P. has proposed 24sqm plinth area, washing place of 2.31 sqm and built up area of 21.69 sqm. • We are submitting all the details of shelf stores, chullah/platform of cooking gas, chimney, plan, elevation, section and sectional detail of footing kitchen cum stores. • Also the estimate of Rs 1.9 lakhs of kitchen cum stores based on SOR 2010 including current rates is also attached. • Remaining detailed information is as under:

  17. Best practices in construction of kitchen –cum-stores FOUNDATION CONSTRUCTION: • Three trill pits are required to dug • if under strata has black cotton soil then Pile/Pedestal/ column foundation has to be adopted. • if under strata has other than black cotton soil then open foundation techniques should be used. SUPER STRUCTURE : • 20 cms wall thickness of brick masonry/solid cement block masonry with cement mortar should be used. DOORS AND WINDOWS: • wooden/iron/precost RCC frames and ferro cement and shutters should be used.

  18. Best practices in construction of kitchen-cum-stores • Lintels or lintels with chajjas should be used. • Roof country tiles / Mangalore tiles / A/C sheet / RCC slab / RC plank & joist of funicular shell roof should be used. • Flooring - flag stone or ordinary cement (IT)should be used. • Finishing – cement mortar plastering, white washing and painting should be done. • If we adopt precast technology, we can reduce 10 to 15 % cost of construction as well as time.

  19. Suggestions and Advice • 10068 kitchensheds are under progress and have not been completed yet because of enhancing cost of construction day by day . So we are switching on to other schemes with convergence for financial support. • Construction of 4298 kitchen cum stores have not yet started, so we request the Govt of India to kindly release the funds as 25.79 crores as mentioned earlier. • If we adopt precast technology, we can reduce 10 to 15% cost of construction as well as time.
