  3. Brightness • High key Dominant : light tones Mood : clean, bright • Normal key Balance between light tones and dark tones • Low key Dominant : dark tones Mood : mysterious, dramatic

  10. 2. Contrast Low contrast / flat Normal contrast High contrast Contrast : ratio between the shadow and highlight Highlight : brightest area of the subject

  11. Low contrast There’s no big difference between highlight and shadow.

  14. 3. Color Warm Orange, yellow, gold Ex : sunset, tungsten light (interior light) Normal Ex : sunny day (daylight) Cool Blue, green. Ex : (early) sunrise

  18. 4. Direction of light • It’s defined by direction where the light source comes. • Ex : light comes from behind, front, top, right/left (30, 45, 90º) side of the object. • If we know the direction of the source, we can reproduce the similar lighting in the different situation

  19. 5. Specular Specular light Light source with characters : Size of the light source relatively smaller than the object Shadow effect : harsh, sharp Shadow-edge-transfer : short, we can show the edge of the shadow

  24. 6. Diffused Light source with characters: Size of the light source relatively bigger than the object Shadow effect : soft Shadow-edge-transfer : long, we can see the transition/gradation of the shadow
