Entering to Lithuania(for third-country nationals) Exclusions of visaregime - visa-free regime : right to enter and stay without a visa, but not longer than 90 days in any period of 180 days valid Schengen visaor national visa issued by other Schengen state (limitation - not exceed 90 days in any period of 180 days) With a Residence card of a family member of Union citizen; a residence permit issued by another Schengen state (limitation - not exceed 90 days in any period of 180 days) Members of the crews of sea vessels entering via sea ports of the Republic of Lithuania; sailors; ship crew - three months without visa

National visa (D) • may enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in it for a period longer than three months • A single entry national visa (D) • A multiple entry national visa (D) • NOTE: Aliens who own a valid national visa (D) may travel in the territories of other Schengen states for a period not exceeding three months in any period of half a year.

  4. A multiple entry national visa (D)for student • Issued to: • a student arriving in the Republic of Lithuania for studies according to international student exchange programmesor the student exchange programmes; • a student arriving in the Republic of Lithuania to the consecutive full-time studies a higher education establishment operating in the Republic of Lithuania.

  5. What documents shall be submitted to receive a national visa (D) for students? • valid travel document (period of validity must be at least three months longerthan the period of validity of a visa requested to be issued. Also must contain at least two empty pages and must be issued within the past ten years). (To Migration Office – passport pages copies of all marks (no request to do empty pages copies)) • completed application of the established form for the issuance of a national visa; • one 35x45 colourphoto corresponding the person’s age; • an application by the inviting establishment, undertaking or organisation of the Republic of Lithuania, addressed to a visa office which the alien is going to apply to for the issuance of the visa (shorter – documents from university); • document certifying living resources (e.g. a bank account statement) • a valid document confirming possession of medical insurance, whose amount is not less than 20 thousand Litas) • state fee of 207 Litas (consular fee – EUR 60) (NOTE: For students arriving by international agreements (e.g. Erasmus) – NO FEE

Requests for medical insurance • In medical insurance must be indicated: • the number of health insurance policy; • insurance company requisites; • the insured person’s name and surname; • amount; • the period of validity; • territory of validity; • not insured events. • NOTE: Policy must ensure that there will be paid emergency medical assistance, also all repatriation expenses for health reasons. • Policy – with any insurance company; • Entries – in Lithuanian, English, German, French, and Russian languages; • Must be valid for the entire stay

  7. Temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania

  8. Temporary residence permit (TRP) • is issued tocitizen of a non-EU Member State • usually issued for a period of one year • may also be issued for a shorter period • Terms/deadlines: • For 1st TRP – before 4 months • Renewal (2ND and ect.) – before 2 months

What documents shall be submitted to receive a TRP for students? • an application of the specified form to issue or replace temporary residence permit; • a valid travel document (passport) • To Migration Office – passport pages copies of all marks (no request to do empty pages copies)) • period of validity must be at least three months longerthan the period of validity of TRP • valid national visa (D) or • valid Schengen visa or national visa issued by another Schengen country unless a visa-free regime applies, or card of family member of Union citizen confirming the right to live in the country when application to issue a note is provided to Migration Service (First step - a student applies for national visa (D), second step– for TRP)

  10. one photo (40 x 60 mm), matching the age • documents confirming the ground for issuance or replacement of temporary residence permit: • documents from university; • document certifying living resources (e.g. a bank account statement); • document about a place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania; • document confirming that a person has a health insurance (this document can be provided when applying for execution of temporary residence permit). • state fee of 300 Litas

  11. Students – European Union citizens • A citizen of a European Union Member State may enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay therein for a period not exceeding three months starting from the first day of entry into the Republic of Lithuania. • Certificate confirming the right of a citizen of an EU Member State to temporarily reside in the Republic of Lithuania - adopted not later than within ten working days from the day that it was submitted

What documents must submitEU citizens (students)? • an application of the specified form; • a valid passport of an EU citizen or an identity card; • a document (from university) confirming that EU citizen has been admitted to a higher education institution; • document certifying living resources (e.g. a bank account statement); • a valid document confirming possession of medical insurance; • state fee of 30 Litas.

  13. Where should I apply? • For national visa (D) or TRP - to diplomatic mission of the Republic of Lithuania or consular post abroad; or to Migration Office in Lithuania • For certificate issued to EU citizens – to Migration Office in Lithuania

  14. REQUIRED • For third-country nationals after they receive TRP and • For European Union citizens after they receive certificate • REQUIREMENT TO DECLARE LIVING PLACE ADDRESS AT THE LOCAL TERRITORIAL OFFICECALLED “SENIŪNIJA” WITHIN 7 WORKING DAYS

  15. RESTRICTIONS • An alien who receives a work permit for the period of studies shall have the right to work during part-time studies not more than 20 hours per weekand only beginning from the second year of studies. • Main goal: to study, not to work • Upon the termination of the study period or discontinuation of studies, foreigner must depart from the Republic of Lithuania.
