  3. Puerto Vallarta’s History Vallarta became a township on December 2, 1851 and was named Las Peñas de Santa Maria Guadalupe. At the end of the 1930’s Vallarta began to exploit its marine wealth, principally through shark fishing, which brought a great deal of economic growth. 1968, Vallarta was elevated from a municipality to a city by the State Congress. From this point forward Vallarta grew not only economically but also culturally. Tourism is a major economic factor because of the climate, scenery, tropical beaches and rich cultural history.

  7. Map/Directions It’s only about a 17 min. drive from the airport to hotel. And even closer a 4 min. drive to the main city. Navel museum is located next to amphitheatre at los acros. Marietas Island Sailing departs from marina Vallarta.

  8. Activities for the family! There’s many thing to do in Puerto Vallarta from Horseback Riding to Whale watching. Length of trip and cost vary on age and amount of people. Some events allow kids to participate in for free! You could also enjoy the beach during the day and then have a Fiesta or sunset cruise at night.

  9. Food With your choice start with Chips & Salsa or dig right in to those Mexican Fajitas. Drinks vary from classic margaritas and beer or simple soft drinks. Food prices are great and convenient from as little as 2.50 to $10. For those vegans, there's options like Dorito Mexican Salad or Deviled egg stuffed Avocados you could try.
