  1. 20130805Crab Cavities FPC &Power Amplifiers status

  2. Amplifiers • We have6 x 352 MHz amplifiers1 x 400 MHz amplifier • We have started test with a first 352 MHz • Due to Long Shutdown 1no water -> on hold • We will restart in September • We should qualify our first400 MHz amplifierbefore end 2013 • We will launch modification of3 additional 400 MHz amplifiers(4 in total) beginning 2014 SPS 352 MHz amplifier 1994-2000

  3. Amplifiers Transmission lines Final Driver FPC Cryo module LLRF

  4. Amplifiers • Regarding full reflection operation we need a circulator • We are in contact with suppliers, should not be a problem except some additional integration difficulties Transmission lines (WG or Coax) Final Circulator Driver FPC Cryo module LLRF

  5. FPC vacuum side • Will be the same window for all 3 couplers • Titanium flange • AL2O3 - 99.6% disk ceramic • 3D forged OFE Copper antenna • 3D forged OFE Copper Body with Stainless Steel flanges • 2 vacuum gauge ports • OD= 62 mm • ID = 27 mm • Windows raw material under procurement • Expected by end 2013

  6. FPC water cooled • Regarding Power levels,50 kW CW full reflection,i.e. 200 kW CW locallyinner antenna water cooled • Helicoflex 8” • OD/ID = 195/88.5 mm • 400 MHz – 137 kW • Helicoflex 9” • OD/ID = 216.7/99.4 mm • 400 MHz – 287 kW • Crab FPC antenna OD = 27 mm • Water tube • Antenna OD/ID = 27/21 mm • Water tube OD/ID=17/13 mm • CERN rule for couplers • No soldering, welding,… between water and vacuum • We will have an exception on the ceramic side End-shape EBW Water/vacuum End-shape EBW Copper/copper

  7. End-shape antenna Quarter Wave Double Ridge 4 rods 14.5 mm rounding on the tip

  8. Double Walled Tube • Not included in the FPC • Part of the cryomodule • Length still to be defined (regarding cryomodule design) • Cavity flanges tbcby cryomoduleteam • RF OD 62 mm tbd tbd tbd 114 mm 62 mm

  9. Test box & WG • Test box design • completed for 4 rods • To be completed for Double ridge and forQuarter Wave • Coaxial to Waveguide transition design completed • Antenna length awaiting DT design ?

  10. Integration • Still a lot to do, but we are confident that whatever the space available, we will be able to match with it • Key parameter is the distance between beam axis and the water inlet on the top of the waveguide • Cryomodule design must take it into account 1108 DT 2308 maximum 1200
