  1. MR-Ancillary Order Dashboard Presented by Debi Camp 3/28/13

  2. MR-Ancillary Dashboard What is it? • This dashboard is a view of the unit census with columns to show: • Pt. demographic information ( including security codes) • Ancillary Orders – initially just RT and EKG • If the ancillary has been paged automatically by the system (or do they need to notify them) • A place to make notes for MR or Charge RN to see • Future plan to pull in specific data from Teletracker re travel method etc. (once entered in Teletracker)

  3. WHY? • Moving to a completely paperless system • Will stop the printing of ancillary requisitions (e.g. RT requisitions, EKG requisitions, Radiology requisitions, etc.) • Will continue to need to see those orders and interact with ancillaries as appropriate • Therefore, we needed to come up with a way to notify you of these orders

  4. The New MR Dashboard You can find the MR dashboard under the Dashboards list in the black menu bar of StarPanel. Click Ancillary dashboards to expand the list and select MR-Ancillary.

  5. More Features Of The MR Dashboard

  6. What’s In Each Column:

  7. What’s In Each Column Continued For all indicators, users can hover over the indicator to see the text detail about the order

  8. How To Display Your Unit’s Dashboard-one time set up 1) From the MR Dashboard, click “Change panel.” 2) Select the unit you work on. The available units are circled below in red. 3) The new unit name should now display at the top along with your patients.

  9. How To Display Multiple Units/Areas

  10. How To Acknowledge That I Have Seen The Order • From the MR Dashboard • Click on the order indicator • Order appears in hover • Review the order • Click “Acknowledge orders” in frame below

  11. Why Acknowledge Orders? • To assist in workflow • Acknowledging showing that you saw the order and • Electronic equivalent of picking the paper requisition up off of the printer

  12. How Can I Tell That Orders Have Been Acknowledged? Once order is acknowledged, the indicator will turn white. If you hover over the indicator, it will display the order along with “Ack by” and the user’s name who acknowledged the order. If you click on the indicator, the orders previously acknowledged will display in the frame below the MR Dashboard.

  13. Frequently Asked Questions • Why are we doing this? • We are gradually moving to a completely paperless system and will lose the ability to print ancillary requisitions (e.g. RT requisitions, EKG requisitions, Radiology requisitions, etc.). Therefore, we needed to come up with a way to notify you of these orders. • How did you come up with this dashboard? • A few months ago we gathered the requirements for this dashboard from a group of medical receptionists representing multiple departments from across the medical center. We took their feedback and have implemented some changes and are still working on future enhancements. We anticipate that as this is used across the entire medical center, many of you will have additional feedback that are unique to your area’s workflow. We expect this and will be continuing to work to improve the product after implementation. • Do I still need to call or page the Heart Station when I see that there is a new EKG order? • YES! The EKG technicians do not have the automatic paging system like Respiratory Therapy does yet, so you will need to continue to call or page about EKG’s like you do in your current workflow.

  14. We Look Forward to Hearing From You! We anticipate that as this is rolled out across the medical center that you will have questions or feedback about the MR Dashboard. CAPS representatives will be rounding to answer questions and take this feedback. You may also email Stephanie Grose or Debi Camp in Systems Support Services.
