  2. “A House Divided…” • Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) sprang up on college campuses • Wanted political and economic reforms against govt. and businesses that were too powerful • SDS wanted to take down the Man, man!

  3. “A House Divided…” • 1967 was a major year for numerous marches by SDS and other protest groups on Washington D.C. • Protesters typically were people in their late teens & into their 20s. • These people thought the war was wrong and worried about a draft • A draft lottery was finally called in 1969.

  4. “A House Divided…” • Debate on the ‘war’ broke down into hawks(pro-war) and doves (anti-war) • Hawks tended to be older, doves younger • Until 1968, most Americans were hawks…
