  2. Becoming a Credible Christian Purpose: • Reflect the humble character of Jesus. • Keep the unity of the Spirit in peace. • Apply the grace-gifts in building up the body of Christ. Objectives: • To live a worthy and virtuous life. • To keep the unity of the Spirit. • To apply the grace- gifts God gives.

Becoming a Credible Christian • Introduction • The question asked in these incidences is "Who is right?" • The scriptures do not answer the question of who is right, but the Bible does tell us who is credible. • Here are ways you can tell if a person is an authentic Christian. • A CHRISTIANlives a worthy and virtuous life.

  4. Becoming a Credible Christian • LIVINGa worthy life • We are to live a life of HOLINESS. • We are CALLED from sin to right living.

  5. Becoming a Credible Christian • LEADINGa virtuous life. • We are to be HUMBLE. We laugh when someone quips, "I sure am proud of my humility." • HUMILITYmeans to be teachable. • Humility allows someone else to act as an authority or a LEADER without undermining. • We are to be GENTLE.

  6. Becoming a Credible Christian • Because God is ONE. • We who would choose to be like Him will be UNITED. • This passage does not call for UNIFORMITY. • Be CREATIVE, God enjoys variety. • God is over all; He is in charge of UNITING people not tearing them apart.

Becoming a Credible Christian • Because we are BOUND together through peace. • CONFLICT divides; peace unites. • Keeping peace requires EFFORT. • GODgives a variety of gifts. • Apostles are sent by God with special powers and for specific PURPOSES. • Prophets PROCLAIM the truth of God. • Evangelists call people to DISCIPLESHIP. • PASTORScare for a flock of people. • Teachers instruct LEARNERS about God.

  8. Becoming a Credible Christian G. GOD’S purposes are to: • Prepare people to SERVE. • BUILDthe body of Christ . • Unite people in faith and KNOWLEDGE . • Bring PEOPLE to maturity.

Becoming a Credible Christian H. CONCLUSION: • Believers and unbelievers can discern who the credible Christians are by how they live, treat people, and build up the church. • What about those churches who disagree with each other? • God is not bothered by our disagreements unless we divide, become unloving or fail to build up the body of Christ. • Can we point to our differences? Yes, but we are not to fight. • For all of us who wish to lead other people to Jesus, let us live a life worthy of God's call to holiness.

How well do I do I use my spiritual gifts (e.g. service, mercy, faith) among unbelievers/non-Christians? List ways you find that are easy and natural for you to serve people around you?
