  1. Montenegrins By: Bren’na , Lindsay, and Josh R.

  2. Where did the people come from? • They have an Albanian origin. • Slavic invasions certainly decreased the enormous territory of Illyria.

  3. Who were they ruled by and what time? • Under Roman empire, province of Illyria • Ruled under the Ottoman Empire in 1389.

  4. The Rulers Influence • The Ottomans and Albanians began an alliance with Russia in the early 18th century. • They supported Siberia before and after World War I. During this time it was occupied by Italians. • In 1992, one year after the breakup of the Yugoslavia, the Montenegrins and Serbians combined a Federal Republic.

  5. Wars/Conflicts were they involved in before breakup of Yugoslavia? • Serbs, Macedonians and Montenegrins were under the repressive autocratic control of the Ottoman Turks, Eastern Orthodox in religion, used the Cyrillic alphabet and were less economically developed.

  6. Religion’s they practice • A multi-religious country. • Although Orthodox Christianity is the dominant religion, there are also numerous adherents of Islam and Catholic Christianity

  7. Economy • mostly a service based economy, currently in the progress of economic transition

  8. Physical Geography • Nobody lives in the mountains. So the mountains are dividing the cities apart. • The rivers provide water for food, drinking, etc… • Also the rivers provide boat travel and water for farmers to use for irrigtion. • The sea provides import and export trade for this country.
