  2. How/why is this Product used in the US? • MONEY! -We use sugar to trade and we do it by shipping which then gets us money. Basically it helps the economy. • FOOD! -When it comes to dealing with food, almost EVERYTHING has sugar! Its used in chips, drinks, candy and etc.

  3. What are the environmental causes? • HABITAT DESTRUCTION! -Because it has been a success of selling sugar, farmers plan on growing more. Now to grow more, farmers have been clearing up more land for plantation but what they don’t realize is that they are destroying some animal habitats. • CROP ELIMINATION! -Since sugar is using up most of the plantation area, other crops are being destroyed thus having less..

  4. What are the Cultural Consequences? • TREES CLOSE TO EXTINTION! • EWW DIRTY FERTILIZER! - Because its being disposed in near by waters its causing that water to be dirty and unhealthy. - Also the cause of disposing it causes the everglades to go from fresh and full of life to looking lifeless.

  5. What does the Industry (or gov.) say it’s doing? • Ca$h! - The government does agree that the sugar plantation is causing problems but in away they know its helping them get more money. - Although, at the end they have agreed to not have so many plantations thus saving land, animals, and etc.

  6. What we think should be done…. • STOP! -We think that the farmers should first of all stop clearing land for the plantation in order to save the animal’s habitat. -Disposing fertilizer in the water or anywhere else! • Have less sugar plantations!

  7. Did you know sugar… • Can cause drowsiness • Causes kidney damage • Can make your eye sight go bad • Speed up your aging process • Could lead up to diabetes • Can cause depression • Could cause asthma
