About Monash Law • Monash Law was ranked as one of the world’s top 20 Law Schools in 2011* *QS World University Rankings by Subject 2011 – Law • Monash Law offers a four-year Bachelor of Laws, nine double degrees with law, the Master of Laws (Juris Doctor), 23 postgraduate courses and four postgraduate research degrees • Our students are offered more undergraduate electives than most other Australian law schools • In 2012 Monash Law received as many VTAC applications (over 6,000) as the combined total of all other Victorian Law School’s • In January 2012 Monash won the World University Debating Championships beating Oxford, Sydney and Stanford universities in the final. • The majority of Victoria’s senior judicial positions are held by Monash Law graduates

Key Undergraduate Course Changes • The Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance)/Bachelor of Laws will no longer be offered from 2013 • Internal and external transfers now require a minimum 75% average (as opposed to 70% ) • Dean of Law, Arie Freiberg AM is retiring at the end of 2012 after nine years as Dean. An international search for a new Dean is currently being conducted

Key Postgraduate Course Changes • In July 2011, the Monash Law Chambers moved to new purpose-built premises at 555 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne • The Monash JD continues to receive an increasing number of applicants each year • Monash JD students can participate in the Malaysia and Prato programs as well as undertake Clinical Legal Education units at Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service or the Springvale-Monash Legal Service • Monash JD students can choose from more than 80 LLM electives • An evening stream to the Monash JD was introduced in Trimester 1, 2012 • The Monash JD is piloting Saturday classes in Trimester 3, 2012
