  1. February: ADHD Awareness 20% of the world’s population is living with ADHD

  2. What is ADHD? Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or a combination. For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out of the normal range for a child's age and development. Most children with ADHD also have at least one other developmental or behavioral problem. They may also have a psychiatric problem, such as depression or bipolar disorder

  3. SYMPTOMS • Lack of attention (inattentiveness) • Hyperactivity • Impulsive behavior (impulsivity) • Easily distracted • Fidgeting with hands or feet or squirms in seat • Interrupts or intrudes on others Do any of your students at your school display any of the symptoms listed above?

  4. Statistics • Percent of children 3-17 years of age ever diagnosed with ADHD is 8.7% • 7% of children diagnosed will be medicated with prescription drugs and stimulants to assist with focus and well being
