Mercury Requirements • Allowed to remove mercury ampules • E.g. thermostats • Removal over spill containment • Ensure mercury clean-up kit is available • Trained personnel • Place them in a separate sealed container • Packaged to prevent breakage • Can remove the housing from mercury device • Mercury Spill / Cleanup Debris • Must be managed as a hazardous waste

Lamp Requirements • Storage • Structurally Sound Container • Adequate to prevent breakage • Compatible with the lamps • Must remain closed • No signs of damage or leakage • Breakage • Immediately clean up broken lamps • Place in separate, sealed container • State laws may dictate whether this is a HW Mercury ! Lead !

Recycling Universal Waste • Select Qualified Recycler • Must send to a qualified UW handler • Do Not transport the UW yourself ! • Meet DOT Shipment Requirements • Package, Label, Mark and Placard • Shipping description completed • Signed by a DOT trained person • If shipment contains HW, it will be rejected & EPA notified
