MAXIMUS’ alliance experience • Continue to build on a successful FND partnership • Creative and enthusiastic testing of ideas amongst ‘critical’ friends • Opportunity to drive home importance of performance • Relocation of heartland from South West to central Southern England • Extending coverage and creating opportunities for further growth

MAXIMUS’ lessons learned • Like any good relationship, it needs work – keep talking. • Be strong within the Alliance – if the relationship is worth it, the alliance can take it! • Communicate and review the role of the alliance internally as it evolves. • Acknowledge differences – if organisations were the same, what would be the point of working together! • Don’t duck the detail. • Celebrate successes… together.

  14. CDG’s lessons learned • Take time to agree the basis of the alliance • Have a written agreement from the start • Make sure all staff in both organisations understand the agreed alliance • Remember commercial organisations must make profit
