  1. 5 Traditional Indian Wedding Sarees That Bridal Women Wear India is a country with the second largest population in the world and it is popularly known for the different types of wedding sarees and cultures followed by people of different parts of the country. While every culture is unique and beautiful in its own way, let us see five of the many traditional Indian wedding sarees that women wear for their marriages. 1) Kanjeevaram silk sarees: Most of the South Indian marriages can be spotted with a woman wearing kanjeevaram silk or kancheepuram silk saree. As per the name, this silk is made in the region of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. It is said that the silk weavers in Kanchipuram are descendants of Sage Markanda, the master weaver of Gods. It is a feeling of pride when a bride wears this saree and this saree is the most expensive of all the Indian wedding sarees. Original kanjeevaram silk sarees are known for their colour, durability and thickness. With the vibrant colours, designs and huge no. of choices available to fit wallets of any sizes, kancheepuram silk saree is one of the Indian wedding sarees that every South- Indian woman loves to see herself in for her marriage.

  2. 2) Net sarees: If south Indian women love kancheevaram sarees, north Indian women love net sarees. Once not considered by a lot of women, net sarees have become increasingly famous because of the interesting and new designs they bring to the blouses. The net silk saree is very soft and the needlework done in this saree will be so beautiful that a peek at the needlework would make you feel mesmerized. A bride will absolutely love this type of Indian wedding sarees as everything from the design to the needlework in this saree could be customized according to the choice of the bride. This makes net sarees one of the evergreen Indian wedding sarees that women love to wear for their marriages and even for their wedding anniversaries. 3) Banarasi sarees: If there are some people who disagree to the saying, “women are most beautiful on the day of their wedding”, they’ll think at least twice before disagreeing, when they see a bride in a banarasi saree complemented with gold jewellery. A banarasi saree is one of the finest Indian Wedding Sarees and is known for its gold and silver zari (border), silk quality and luxurious embroidery. Get hold of one of these beauties and you’ll immediately find it little heavy; a pure sign of the extreme quality of the silk and the zari in this saree. With so much quality and reputation, this saree is not just loved by brides, but also cherished by married women who would feel overwhelmed when this saree is gifted to them. 4) Assam silk sarees: Assam is known for the production of silk sarees of the finest quality. There are also facts which say that silk production first came to India through Assam. Weaving has been one of the important occupations in Assam since the ancient times. The quality of Assam silk is such that in most cases, the silk lives longer than its owner. The glossy fine texture of this saree along with its

  3. durability make this saree always find a spot in any list of famous Indian wedding sarees. 5) Sambalpuri silk sarees: Originated from Sambalpur, Odisha, these silk sarees became extremely famous after our late Prime Minister, Ms. Indira Gandhi started wearing them. A unique thing about this saree, the threads are first tie-dyed (it is a process of producing patterns in the garment) and then woven into a fabric. To protect the weavers practicing this art, Indian government included this art in its Geographical Indications (GI) registry. Initially this saree was worn by Indian women casually, but later due to the advent of advanced technologies in the weaving of sarees, a host of Sambalpuri bridal collections with numerous designs came into the clothing industry making this saree one of the coolest Indian wedding sarees that a woman wants in her bridal collections.
