  2. Brief Biography Professor Shashi Shekhar (joined in 1989) Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in Computer Science M.S. Univ. of California, Berkeley in in Business Administration, Research Interests Data and knowledge engineering, spatial database management, spatial data mining, and geographic information systems. Selected Awards & Honors • Elected an IEEE Fellow, for contributions to spatial database storage methods, data mining, and geographic information systems, 2003. • Elected to the Board of Directors, University Consortium on Geographic Info. Systems, 2003-04. • Co-Editor-in-Chief, Geo-Informatica: An Intl. Jr., 2002- present • Co-Chair, Army Research Lab. Workshop on Battlefield Visualization, 2000. • Selected as United Nations international advisor for UNDP projects 1997-98. • Excellence in Teaching Award, Bush Foundation 1992 - 93.
