  1. Alliteration Practice • 1.3: Reading, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. • Identify and apply knowledge of the elements of a variety • of fiction and literary texts to demonstrate an understanding • Of a literary selection.

  2. What is Alliteration? • Repeated consonant sounds occurring at the beginning of words or within words. Example: She was wide-eyed and wondering while she waited for Walter to waken.

  3. Let’s read some examples… • Remember to look for initial sound similarities.

  4. An ant ate an apple.

  5. Bees buzz by the barn.

  6. The cat curled up on the couch.

  7. Danny dislikes dangerous dogs.

  8. Edger eats eggs everyday.

  9. Flying fish foiled the four fisherman.

  10. The geese gave gifts to Grant.

  11. Harry has a horse and a hat.

  12. Isaac is eating interesting ice cream.

  13. The jaguars eat jam in the jungle.

  14. Kangaroos keep keys in kettles.

  15. The lovely ladybugs liked the lilies.

  16. The magician made a minor mistake.

  17. Nick knows nine nuts are not nourishment.

  18. Oliver obsesses over Olivia the octopus.

  19. Paul deliveredpizza proudly to people.

  20. The quiet queen wanted a quilt.

  21. Rodents and roosters ride on riverboats.

  22. Steve saved several swimmers on Sunday.

  23. Sheriff Schroeder shivered in his shoes.

  24. The thief thought this was thrilling.

  25. Tommy took trucks to Timmy’s on Tuesday.

  32. Can you make any on your own? • Pick a letter of the alphabet and write a silly sentence using words starting with that letter. • Don’t forget to illustrate your silly sentence!
