  2. The Camp Coal After School Program (ASP) is designed to provide a safe, relaxing and enjoyable environment for school age students who might otherwise be left at home unsupervised during the day.  The program will be in operation from school dismissal until 6:30 PM on the days students attend school.  The program is open to all students K-5 who attend Coal Mountain Elementary School.  (Students must be present at school on the day they attend the ASP program).  Activities will include snack, homework, recreational sports, educational activities, movie time and free play.

  3. The hours for Camp Coal ASP are from school dismissal until 6:30 PM.  If students are picked up prior to 2:30, a Camp Coal fee will not be charged for that day. If your student is not picked up by 6:30 PM there will be a $1.00 per minute, per child late fee.  This will need to be paid at the time of pick up.  Camp Coal Hours of Availability

  4. Camp Coal ASP operates ONLY on days in which school is in sessions. Service will not be offered on school holidays, inclement weather days, or during the summer months. In the event of early school dismissal due to inclement weather or other emergencies Camp Coal ASP will not be open. Please make sure you have indicated on the registration form how your child will go home If this event does occur (car pick-up OR bus rider). Camp Coal Hours of Availability

Tuition must be paid weekly and is due on MONDAY or the first day of the week the student attends the program. A statement of your account is available upon request.  Parents who reach a balance of $120.00 will be dismissed from the program until the balance is paid in full. Parents who pay one month in advance will receive a 10% discount if payment is received by the first Monday of the month or by the first day of the week the student attends the program.

  8. No Bullying! Below are the rules we follow at our school to be bully free at Coal Mountain: 1. We will not bully other students. 2. We will help students who are bullied. 3. We will make it a point to include all students who are left out. 4. When we know someone is bullied, we will tell a teacher or adult at home. What is Bullying? A student is being bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more students. There is usually an imbalance in power or strength.

Shirts or tops must cover the waistband of pants, shorts, or skirts, with no midriff or cleavage visible while standing, sitting, with arms extended above the head or while bending over); Running shorts, tennis shorts, running tights, short shorts Skirts, dresses, or shorts must be beyond fingertip length with arms extended downward by the sides of the body Clothing and accessories such as jewelry, patches, backpacks and notebooks must not display (1) racial or ethnic slurs, (2) hate speech, (3) gang affiliations or (4) vulgar, obscene, subversive, sexually explicit, implicit or suggestive language or images; nor should they promote products that students may not legally buy such as alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, etc.

  12. Electronic Devices Students will not be allowed to use any personal electronic devices during their stay in Camp Coal.  During the school day, BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) is encouraged at Coal Mountain for instructional purposes.  However, personal electronic devices are not allowed for entertainment during the school day.  They are to be used for instructional purposes only.  If students have their devices out during Camp Coal, employees will bring the device to the office where it will be given to parents upon checking their student out.  All Camp Coal Students have access to desktops in order to complete any homework, if needed.

  13. Computer Usage All Camp Coal students will follow the Forsyth County computer usage policy. Staff members are aware that students have access to the Internet from all of the school system's computers. Staff members will use good judgment and closely supervise the student's use of the Internet. The School System uses filtering software to help prevent student access to inappropriate web sites. However, it is impossible to block access to all objectionable material. If a student decides to behave in an irresponsible manner, they may be able to access sites that contain materials that are inappropriate for children or are not commensurate with community standards of decency. They should not be permitted to access sites unrelated to their assignment and should not be allowed to access game or other sites that could infect the computer with “Spyware”.

  14. Homework Parents should mark on the registration form if they would like for their student to complete their homework while at Camp Coal. A calm atmosphere will be provided for this. Students will have access to classroom desktops (and possibly school laptops) to complete online assignments. Please make sure your child’s homework information is kept in the agenda so that Camp Coal staff can have access to the information.

  15. Facilities Students are expected to help keep the school campus in a clean and orderly fashion.

  16. Safety Doors will remain locked at all times during the school day with the exception of the front entrance. Doors should never be propped open, nor should children ever open exterior doors. Students should NOT open doors to any adult without a teacher or administrator present. A school-wide safety plan has been developed for Coal Mountain Elementary. Plans for building evacuation, lockdown procedures, fire drill procedures, take cover procedures, and a Crisis Response Plan are maintained in the principal's office. This plan is confidential, and we do not distribute copies of these plans. Staff members will be trained on specific parts of each plan that are needed so that responsibilities can be carried out. Staff members for each group (K-2 & 3-5) have access to an emergency/first aid kit. These are contained in a Red Cross cinch bag and are kept with staff members at all times. The kits contain basic first aid supplies and other safety procedures. (Building evacuation, lockdown, fire drill, and severe weather)

  17. Student Attendance & Dismissal Students will enter the room and sit in the place designated to them by Camp Coal Staff. Students should remain quite during this time. This will help with taking attendance and allow the staff members to hear the 2-way radios if the office needs to contact them. Parents will check their student out at the front office. The student will be dismissed by two way radio.

  18. Camp Coal Thank you for allowing your student to be a part of our after school program.  We are honored to have the privilege of getting to know your child this school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
