2. Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE)PSAE Contractor ACT is ISBE’s primary contractor for the PSAE. Pearson is ACT’s subcontractor for Day 2 PSAE test materials.
3. Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) Purpose The major purpose of the PSAE is to measure the Illinois Learning Standards in four learning areas:Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Writing.Scores for and participation of grade 11 students contribute to school, district, and state Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).The PSAE provides these bonuses:

4. Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) Purpose In August 2004, legislation (Public Act 93-857) became effective and requires all students to take the PSAE as a condition of receiving a regular high school diploma, unless a student is exempted.
5. Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) Changes In August 2009, Public Act 96-0430 became effective and eliminates the grade 12 fall PSAE retake.
Therefore, beginning in 2009-10 school year, only grade 12 students who have not yet satisfied the PSAE diploma requirement and are not exempt may take PSAE in the spring.
6. Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) PSAE Diploma Guidance PSAE Diploma Guidance for 2009-10 Graduates is posted on www.isbe.net/assessment/psae.htm. Exemptions are described in detail in this document.Some grade 12 students are included in the 2010 Assessment Pre-ID file. Districts should review these records and verify if any of these grade 12 students are exempt. Districts may then identify exempt grade 12 students online during the 2010 Assessment Correction window, which will be from May 14, 2010, until July 19, 2010.

ACT English Test – 45 minutes (75 questions)
ACT Mathematics Test – 60 minutes (60 questions)

ACT Science Test – 35 minutes (40 questions)
[required 5-minute break]
ACT Writing Test – 30 minutes (1 prompt)
