  3. Sponsorship threats. Following the Max Pacioretty incident with ZdenoChara, Air Canada threatened the league of pulling its sponsorship. Air Canada wants to see the league do more to prevent serious injuries to the head. The airline sent a letter to the League executives, saying the urgent need of a fix to stop serious, life threatening head injuries.   4. Playoff injuries. There are 9 players out indefinitely right now in the playoffs due to head injuries. Of these head injuries 6 are concussions, 1 is a neck injury, while 2 are serious cuts on the face. In total there are 25 injuries in the playoffs to date. 36% of these injuries are serious head injuries. http://tsn.ca/nhl/injuries/

  8. Percentage At the end of the regular season, a total of 58 players were out with injuries. 18 of these injuries were serious head injuries. That is 31% of the injuries which is a big percentage.   9. Sidney Crosby Arguably the best player in the world was injured with a blatant blow to the head. He hasn’t played a game since January 5th, 2011. He is one of the biggest money grabbers in the game, people want to see him play. His head injury should be one of the major factors in the league changing their ways.   10. Summarization Headshots in the NHL are a huge deal, and it has been very controversial in the past few seasons. Especially following the serious injuries of David Booth, Marc Savard, Sidney Crosby, and most recently the Max Pacioretty injury.
