  6. How do we compare • Performance of the 500st is 850 Gflops • Technion : 15 Gflops

  7. HPC at the Technion • 2003- Usage was 80-90% on parix Carmel and Or were available at IUCC free of charge • Jan 2004- Starting to charge Or/ carmel usage . Users stop to use IUCC computers. Parix goes down to 30-40% usage.

  8. HPC at the Technion- 2004 • Carmel was dismantled – Technion gets 32 processors • No maintenance funds, and only former Or users can run on carmel

  9. In 2004 • Increase in parix usage – back to former values –e.g.users complains it is full. • We got maintenance funds for Carmel after an hardware problem • Carmel is 60-70% full • New departements have started to use parix
