Rationale Working Group Invasive Alien Species • Contributed to 2008 Communication Towards an EU Strategy on Invasive Alien Species Now three groups: • Working Group 1 - Prevention • Working Group 2 - Early Warning and Rapid Response • Working Group 3 - Eradication, Control, Restoration • Each of the three Working Groups will meet twice

  4. Working Groups’ role The role of the Working Group members: to provide advise and expertise to the Commission to formulate opinions and recommendations Output: report with recommendations report to be publicly available on CIRCA Tasks and output expected

First meeting Creation of tasks: Commission proposes tasks to be refined and adjusted during the first meeting) Agreement on working method Identification of task leaders for each task and potential back-up task leaders Discussion on substance: Open questions and issues to be addressed Working method

  6. Steps after initial meeting Work to be split in tasks dedicated to each topic Task leader prepares first draft document: Commission upload first draft on CIRCA in relevant task subfolder WG members provide feedback: Commission upload documents in “comments” subfolder under each task Task leader refines document: Commission upload second draft in relevant task subfolder WG can provide further comments if necessary This version now ready to be discussed at second meeting Working method

The task leader role Task leader leads the work and coordinates the process two rounds of consultations Back-up task leaders to be identified: to support task leader and complement his/her expertise to substitute the task leader if needed if substitution needed, please notify Commission, which will then reassign responsibility to back up task leader Working method

  8. Second meeting Draft tasks report presented by the task leaders to the WG The recommendations will be compiled into one coherent Working Group report unresolved issues identified and discussed Endorsement of the final report: Report uploaded in the public folder of CIRCA Working method
