  3. Charleston, West Virginia • Clues • Virginia’s husband (Charles) likes to eat a lot of chicken from KFC (Kentucky, next door). He ate so much chicken he had to live just west of Virginia.

  4. Frankfort, Kentucky • Clues • Kentucky (KFC) is the place next door to West Virginia. Charles comes to KFC to get his chicken – then he goes over to Frank’s fort to eat it • Kentucky Frankfort is the Capital • The state is sort of shaped like a fried chicken leg

  5. Nashville, Tennessee • Clues • TN is the abbreviation for Tennessee • N is for Nashville

  6. Tallahassee, Florida • Clues • Florida is a tall state all by itself between the ocean and the gulf (the sea) (Tall state has place by the sea – Tall-a-has-see)

  7. Columbia, South Carolina • Clues • We went to Space Center Houston for our field trip (SC -South Carolina). Columbia is the name of a space shuttle (also the capital of S.C.).

  8. Raleigh, North Carolina • Clues • There are lots of car rallies (races) in North Carolina (rallies = Raleigh)

  9. Atlanta, Georgia • Clues • Georgia is on the Atlantic coast

  10. Montgomery, Alabama • Clues • All good Texans “Remember the Ala-Mo” (Alabama Montgomery) • Also, you wake up in the a.m.

  11. Baton Rouge, Louisiana • Clues • Baton Rouge means “red stick” in French

  12. Little Rock, Arkansas • Clues • The ark landed on a little rock

  13. Jackson, Mississippi • Clues • Jack’s son is missing
